The local perspective.
The most useful shortlist begins with the type of character you want to live with. Original details, updated interiors and newer construction invite different questions about condition, layout and ownership. Decide which features are essential and which you are willing to adapt after the purchase.
Homes to compare.
Compare usable living space, storage, room connections and the quality of additions. A distinctive elevation may sit over a very different renovation history from the next home on the list. Look for documented work and make room for the inspections relevant to the specific structure.
A well-planned visit.
Include time near White Rock Lake, then test the actual route from each candidate home. Walk the immediate surroundings and compare the property’s outdoor space with how you prefer to spend time outside. Return to the address rather than assuming every home has the same access or setting.
Before the offer.
- Confirm any applicable conservation, historic or other property restrictions.
- Review additions, permits and the age and condition of major systems.
- Investigate drainage and site conditions with the appropriate professionals.
- Check parking, garage usability and the practicality of the floor plan.
